wrapping up the year.

today we continued working on our end of semester projects: College and Career Final Project. each student has a very detailed packet that explains exactly what is expected for this project.  they are getting more than enough time to work on this project in class so not much needs to be done outside of school.
*4th period will be having their college/career day on wednesday, may 23.
*1st and 3rd period will be having their college/career day on thursday, may 24.

3rd period celebrated their class competition victory with a class party today. thanks to everyone who brought in food!  i am still stuffed from all the treats!

MAD.

today we learned our last concept of our statistics unit: MAD (mean absolute deviation).  it's kind of a long process, but pretty easy.
steps:
1. find the mean (average) of the data set.
2. find the deviation of each of the data values from the mean.
3. calculate the mean (average) of the deviations.

***parent teacher conferences are tomorrow!  hope to see you all then.  please e-mail me if you plan on coming so we can set up a time.  thanks!***
