today we worked in three different stations:

today we talked about the characteristics of functions...lots of  vocabulary (check the list on the right side...we covered most of those words today!)

(1st period: #3, 3rd period: you choose any three, 4th period: #3 and #4)

so far this week, 3rd period has the lead in the class competition.  1st and 4th...you better come to tutorial and do the weekly challenge problem to score some points!!

support day: transformations.

today we went over the quiz that you took friday (on transformations and the 6 basic functions).  we continued practicing transformations today: shifts, shrinks, stretches, and reflections.

today in class you were introduced to the six basic functions: linear, absolute value, quadratic, cubic, square root, and rational.  don't forget to practice those arm motions!!! :)

today we went over the homework from last night (HW: functions) and took notes on function notation (GPS: MM1A1 a).  it's just a new way to write equations.

in class we did #1, 4, 7, 10 (and #2, 5, 8, 11 in 3rd period).  for homework, you choose any 6 additional problems that you want to do.  don't forget: each problem has 3 answers since you have 3 inputs: x = -3, 0, 2

4th period homework:  we are a little behind in this class due to the assembly yesterday.  your homework is to complete HW: functions.

today was a review day.  we reviewed plotting points and graphing on the coordinate plane (yes, you did lots of this in middle school!).


homework: complete "chart: graphing practice" and graph each of the lines.  either color them their designated color or label them by their color.

signatures and such.

today we continued talking about class procedures and expectations.

then we drew pictures/symbols on a square to represent our long term goals. these will go up on the Goal Wall in front of the classroom.

homework: parent signatures on welcome letter & honor code...now that's what i call an easy homework assignment :)

back to school, back to school.

welcome to a new school year here at druid hills high school!! we are excited to begin this year! today we went over the course syllabus and the class procedures and expectations.

parents, you should have 2 papers to sign: the syllabus and the honor code. these signatures are due on wednesday!

also, the syllabus lists the materials needed for the class. there will be a material check on friday. if you are not able to purchase these due to financial reasons, please contact me!
