function collages

tomorrow you will be finishing up your function collages. bring in magazines for extra credit!

1st and 2nd period: cut out two pictures from magazines/newspapers that can be used for your function collage.

3rd period: finish your classwork assignment---transformation graphic organizer (front) and make your own function equations (back)

practice those arm motions!

tonight's homework: "HW: 6 Basic Functions." sketch a graph of each of our 6 basic functions (linear, absolute value, quadratic, cubic, square root, and rational). then write their equation and list two characteristics about them.

tomorrow is your 2nd "show me what you know..." make sure you know what each of those graphs looks like!

for homework, do the multiple choice worksheet that has questions involving georgia performance standards MM1A1a (function notation and equations) and MM1A1b (graphing the 6 basic/parent functions).

if you forget what the 6 functions look like, just start doing the arm motions we practiced in class :)

remind your parents that open house is tomorrow night at 6:30.

our first "show me what you know..." is tomorrow!

tonight's homework: p. 41 #1-4 (in your NEW math 1 textbook!)

and study for your "show me what you know..."
anything that is in your notes or in your binder is fair game! know it all!

also, our first "weekly class competition" has come to an end....2nd period has won!! (thanks to some students who came to tutorial after school). you will be rewarded tomorrow. you can eat during class, so bring in any snacks you want!

don't forget what you learned in middle school

HW: Review of Graphing

1) draw a coordinate graph
2) label the x-axis, y-axis, origin, and the 4 quadrants
3) make an x-y table for the points: (3,7), (-2,0), (0,5), (-4,-1), (1,-3)
4) now plot these points on your graph
5) draw the line y = 1/3 x - 4 (remember...slope-intercept form)
