algebra fun sheet.

today we continued practicing multiplying polynomials.  we ended the class working on an algebra fun sheet: "why is a piece of gum like a sneeze?"

homework: finish worksheet!

multiply. multiply. multiply.

today we took notes on multiplying polynomials.  remember: multiply the numbers and add the exponents!  then make sure to combine like terms and put it in standard form.

homework: multiply polynomials and monomials (do first column only!)

add like terms.

today we took notes on like and unlike terms.  after that, we started adding polynomials!

homework: Adding and Subtracting Polynomials WS #2, 3, 5, 8, and 9

Tuesday, September 20, 2011

workbook.

today we started UNIT 2!  we took notes on polynomials and then worked in our new workbook!

homework: p. 61 #1-9 (write the polynomial in standard form, list the degree of the polynomial, and the leading coefficient.  for extra credit: write the name of the polynomial (monomial, binomial, trinomial) and list the constant.)

master those standards.

today you took the Re-Test for Unit 1, where you only tested the standards you did not master.  then for those standards you STILL have not mastered, you received a standards packet.

today you received your Unit 1 Review Packet.  we looked at quite a few of the standards today and will continue to do so tomorrow!

homework...
1st and 4th period:  MM1A1 f (sequences) and MM1A1 g (rate of change)
3rd period: MM1A1 e (interpret graphs) and MM1A1 f (sequences)

also, get a parent signature on your review packet!  and study, study, study!!!

Monday, September 12, 2011

switch 'em and put in "nots"

today we took our very last notes for Unit 1!  you need to know how to write the converse, inverse, and contrapositive of a conditional statement!

arithmetic or geometric.

today we continued working with sequences.  study for your quiz tomorrow!

HW: Straw Triangles (Sequences and Functions WS)

congratulations to 3rd period for winning the class competition for the week!  two weeks in a row!

2, 4, 6, 8...math is really great!

today we continued taking notes on sequences and looked more specifically at arithmetic and geometric sequences.

HW: Sequences #7-11 (fill in the blanks, tell whether the function is arithmetic or geometric, write the rule/equation for the sequence, and find the 10th term in the sequence)

#12-18 (fill in the blanks.  for extra credit, write the rule for the sequence and find the 10th term in the sequence.)

Tuesday, September 6, 2011

sequence = function

today we took notes on sequences (MM1A1 f).  while you do your homework, make sure to look at your notes!

HW: Sequences #1-6 (for each sequence, write the first 6 terms of the sequence.)

Thursday, September 1, 2011

interpret the graph.

today we focused on standard MM1A1 e.  we looked at graphs and tables and interpreted the data.

homework: Journey to the Bus Stop worksheet
be as detailed as possible.  the more creative, the more extra points you will receive!

also, study for your third "show me what you know..."  it will be over the 6 basic functions, characteristics of functions, interpreting graphs, and rate of change.

binder check tomorrow!!  check out ms. jeffries' homework site for the table of contents: mrs. jeffries' homework site
