number tricks.

HW: Polynomial Terms
write 4 examples of each: 1) monomial 2) binomial 3) trinomial 4) polynomial with 4 or more terms

in class today, we did a few "number tricks" (when actually it's just a little algebra involved!). here they are so you can use them on your friends, parents, or siblings.

Lucky Number Seven: Choose a number, any number. Add 3. Multiply by 2. Add 8. Divide by 2. Subtract the number you started with. What'd you get??

Terrible Two's: Begin with any number. I mean, any number at all. Add 2. Multiply by 10. Subtract 5. Divide by 5. Subtract 3. Now divide by the number you started with. And your answer is??

What's your phone number?: Using a calculator, enter the first three digits of your phone number (not the area code). Multiply by 80. Add 1. Multiply by 250. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number to your answer. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number again. Subtract 250. Divide by 2. What's your final answer? Recognize it??

***if you create your own number trick, i'll give you some extra credit!***
